Exclamation Real-time engine monitoring. Light checks, diagnostics, CHEAP new TECH for your phone

Everyone should share this post across the forum.. I just wasn't sure where to start it.

I put together a few items that allow us, or anyone for that matter to view real time engine diagnostics and run check engine light codes. and even reset check engine lights. You could tune with this setup as well if you know how to program a scanner/ecu. Must have blu-tooth for this to work.

I attached a photo of my setup that use. I just mount my phone on my dash (Samsung) No need to buy expensive gauges and pods or OBDll readers anymore. The app is on google play and the Apple store.. The OBDll attachment for the truck is on Amazon.com. I included the link for both of them so you could check them out. Its pretty self explanatory, Awesome and potentially a life saver.

Just read the info on the Google link, that will have an in depth overview of the system and what it can do. The app is like $5 bucks and the OBDll adapter is around $11.00... so for under $20.00 you have a code scanner and all of your real time gauges for your truck.

Enjoy, share the wealth of knowledge. Will work on any vehicle later that 1991 OBDll.

Thanks for the information, man! I feel like every time I turn around the whole industry is flipped over. I can imagine that these will soon enjoy a prominent place in the Diesel Aftermarket. It is pretty hard to compete with an app that only costs 5 dollars!

I for one am probably going to stick with my ISSPRO Gauges for the time being

SCT has a bluetooth tuner... the industry has definitely flipped.

Now someone needs to cash in on a POD to mount these and a heads up display.

What would be the best way to get the information to pop when something is going on outside of the normal range of function? I can just tell that something is wrong with, for example, my fuel pressure when the gauge jumps to red.

are we trying to innovate?
If so I would tie the phone to the sync/bluetooth for audio alerts
then a heads up alert using the camera flash!

I stay innovating

I actually really like your ideas: the bluetooth one would be for less urgent changes and fluctuations while the camera flash would be for danger, right?

Right... and then you could go one step further and program the camera to screen capture if there was an urgent incase the user missed it or wanted to share the stats here.

So you're talking about the Torque App. It's been around a few years I think. I've had it a year now. Love it. I also have the same Bluetooth adapter you posted up. Got it from newegg for 9 dollars. Best $14 I've ever spent for a vehicle.

As far as I knew, Torque is only for Android users. Iphone users have something called Dashboss. Other then being more expensive I don't know anything else about it. Maybe torque now works with iphone?

I figured most everyone on here knew about the Torque App already. There's a lot of threads about it, and its mentioned plenty in posts.
