All 3 US Co. should pool their resources and bring one car to market under a different name owned by all 3 Companies. Test market cars that would help them bridge the economic crisis.

I know y'all are mostly hardcore Ford guys, but i'm big into my VWs too. Over here we get a VW Polo BlueMotion, that gets a comibined 74mpg.

I'd still rather have a Powerstroke though..

We've got a bunch of dumb a$$'s here in government. We could have cheap fuel/energy resources and a bunch of great fuel efficient vehicles but regulation, political correctness and the thought that alternative fuels can be forced into being overnight curing our need for cheap fuels is just plain STUPID! We can't have a little diesel car here that could get 74 miles per gallon because diesels are dirrrtttyyy. Instead, we have diesel trucks that could get great milage but have EGR valves, Cat converters and best of all particulate filters that cause the vehicle to burn twice as much fuel so that the exhaust is cleeeaaannnn! But we must conserve, not drill for more of which is right here at home, instead buy it from someone who is plotting to use my money to kill me and pay 4 times more than what I could get it for. I plan on having my vehicle that burns fossil fuels for quite a while, I hope at least till 2020. If it ran on natural gas maybe I could fart in the gas tank, then I could call it a hybrid since it would be running on two types of fuel, natural gas and wind (as in breaking wind). Government, what a bunch of dumb a$$'s, but, I can't blame the smart people for not wanting to be in government. I think I'll just vote myself a raise in pay.

Best post I have heard all year!! Just wait till the japs come out with one then it will be ok. What I dont understand is how a jap can build a 350hp v6 that gets 30 mpg and the big 3 here cant build anything even close either in mpg or horsepower? So when the japs come out with a 400hp diesel that get 75mpg the big 3 will be like why didn't we think of that?

Cheaper labor overseas...will cost alot to build that type of vehicle here..heck they can't even build a decent mpg and hp combo now without losing their butts.

Did you know that the average unionized assembly line worker in Detroit makes about $75.00 an hour (that figure includes all the benefits they receive). That's works out to be $156,000 dollars a year!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE F*** IS UP WITH THAT!!

Of course all the extra taxes and regulation placed on businesses in this country make it expensive to own and operate a business. But, look out, if you have a very successful business in this country that is profitable,(ie. an oil company or something like that) everybody is coming after you because your making too much money, everybody wants some, especially Uncle Sam!! With all that to overcome............why wouldn't you want to move your manufacturing facility or headquarters to a place that's cheaper to operate,...... hell, I would!!!!!!

The object of risking everything you own to potential loss when you start a business is to make money, and lot's of it! If there is no potential to make money with that level of risk why start a business, why employ people, just put your money somewhere else that's safer an let it work for you.

It'd be nice if someone threw the diesel car into the bailout conditions. God forbid we think like that!
