Transmission Help

Howdy,
So it seems that my tranny is on the way out. 500 miles since the last flush and the fluid smells burnt and it's black, rattling noise from the flexplate area and shifting weird.

My question is, has anyone dealt with any of the shops here in town (Anchorage) for a "custom" tranny, and if so, what kind of experiene/ input do you have? I'm currently looking at a Green's modded tranny with and installed price of $3650from Different Strokes. I know there are probably better tranny's down south but of course the problem is shipping.

Any input would be much appreciated thanks.

Oh, and it's a '02 4x4 which you can prolly tell from the pick

I know a guy that had quality transmission build him one. I forgot the price but it was in the 4,000 range i think. He said it was the best thing he has done to his truck. Another friend with a cummins had a gorend tranny shipped up here and had them put it in and that was is the 7,000 range. But if i had to pick a place to do tranny work it would be at top jimmy out in the valley. The guy knows his stuff and is an ats dealer but he also works with suncoast i believe. Im about to be seeing him for one in my truck.

how about an NADP trans?...their in Alberta Canada so it wouldnt be nearly as far as deep in the us...and they for sure have a quality product..Shawn Ellerton(1000 hp 6.0) is running a version of their trans in his truck and look what it goes through...granted he has their comp unit not just a normal rebuild

Thanks guys, I actually already had it done. My tranny crapped out about three weeks ago.

I ended up taking it to quality transmission. I talked to the guys there and they told about the stuff they used and I was satisfied. But, the main reasons were, it was $4k (parts, labor, and upgraded cooler installed), and they have a 2 year 24k mile warranty. I didn't have to worry about trying to find a shop to install it or shipping it in or out if something happened. Overall, I'm really happy with their work and the rebuild.
