fuel questions for winter time.
Hey guys... i've had my phat bottom girl for less than 6 months, so this is going to be my first winter. I'm curious about fuel additives... and i'm worried about my fuel geling.
I've been using the C-tane boost from ford... but, to be honest, i'm not sure if i need to use another additive or not. I've done a search on here... and of course, i get back 100 threads that all give different info from members all over the U.S. so... anyone care to break down the fuel additive thing and give me suggestions? should i stick with the C-tane from ford? or...?? thanks in advance. |

What's the coldest you've seen?
In Texas, where it was 8 once, I've never had any problem with that. And that was no additive. If the cetane booster from Ford also says anti gelling you should be ok. |

I just went to the ford place at lunch... and they had the Cetane booster(what i usually use) and then they had an anti-geling bottle(bottle was identical to the Cetane, but a different color cap)... the guy wasn't sure if i can use them together or not, so i'm supposed to call this afternoon.
coldest around here is in the teens... i think it was 20 degrees the other night and my truck had a tough time starting that next morning(Only tank of gas without cetane since i've owned it). |

I use Diesel Kleen in the white bottle during the winter and the gray bottle in the summer. You can get this at any auto parts store, and wallyworld.
Power Service Products, diesel fuel additives, prevent gelling, clean injectors, disperse water, boost cetane, reduce emissions, improve fuel economy |

It doesnt really get cold enough down here to worry about it. I dont use any anti-gel additives and I have been fine.

Goose, i may have other problems that i don't know about then... b/c it was really tough to start mine the other day. and once it started, the whole darn truck shook until it was warm... i had an injector go out at 115k miles... so, i guess i might be alittle paranoid. |
