With a mix of city and highway, I can usually average in the 700 mile range. If I'm 100% highway, I can get over 1000 miles a tank. That's just diesel.

I bought a used 2003 F350 7.3 and just tracked my first tank after my first fill up. I got 13.3 MPG and that was with me getting on it all the time. By the way, I'm keeping track of my MPG at FUELLY.COM

It's an awesome website, plus it's free. I like the fact that I can compare my MPG to other F350 owners.

Full veggie tank - ~280lbs + ~500lbs on the tongue cargo carrier + another 500lbs or so of oil in the back I was getting about 16mpg.

So I guess I have the same complaint that robertk has. I just picked up my recently purchased 02 EX. What a great ride! But the one disappointment is the fuel mileage. I drove from Missouri to Seattle with the cruise set at 84 and got 11mpg. Even in places where the speed limit was lower and I was down to maybe 65-70, I was still getting less than 13. Before you ask, I'm using the lazy method of reading mpg off the computer display, but kept a loose eye on the gallons going into the tank and it seemed accurate.

This is a bone stock 02 Ex with brand new 265 BFG A/T's, converted to veggie. I had a full tank of veggie coming out of MO and had to run on diesel after that was gone. Didn't really notice any difference in mpg between the veg and diesel. Any ideas?

On my 2,000 recent trip I clocked about 16-18mpg at 75-85mph with steep changes in elevation the whole way.

On local freeways I can get 20mpg easily and have gotten 22mpg if I keep my foot out of it. I drive my diesels by ear, and therefore it pisses other drivers off - even Prius drivers I'm slow off the line and don't push it.

Of course my highest numbers are with only 100lbs of children in the back, nothing else. My mileage laden (rear of vehicle full of cubies, dogs and luggage) and hauling a 12' enclosed Haulmark full of furniture is still 13-14mpg.

mankypro,

Do you have any mods, i.e. chip, intake, exhaust, or are you still stock? I'd love to find a way to get the mpg you're getting.

I run a WVO conversion, a 4" MBRP exhaust, 6335 intake, no chip that I'm aware of, though I've never looked at the PCM. I drive like a centenarian and keep my tires balanced and properly inflated, don't run oversized tires and check my alignment frequently.

This sounds about right with me also. alignments every 20k, tires inflated to 60/55 instead of the 55/50 that the door calls for (It's what works for even wear on my tires), and rotate every 6k. Intake, and exhaust. Synthetics in everything except for the motor and tranny.

My trip to florida, averaged 22.8 on the way down. On the way back, averaged 20.1. Trip down I made it to north carolina till the 55mph cruise I was doing got thrown out the window. The ride home, I never cared about mileage. Pretty much 60-75 the whole way. 1484 miles one way

Looks like maybe I need to check my tires. They're brand new and I don't know what pressure the shop inflated them to. Would tires, intake, exhaust make that much of a difference? Or is there possibly something a little more sinister going on? I've been checking with some mixed driving this weekend and I'm averaging an even 13.0.
