Best I've got with my Excursion is a high 18MPG. Wanted a 19, but it didn't happen.

I hand calculate, and I checked my speedometer and odometer with GPS to make sure it's correct. Often, they are off by 5-10%. If the ruler is wrong, everything else is too.

Lie-o-meter was pretty close when I was stock. I think it read about .6 better for MPG, and after I added the DP Tuner, it read better by a few MPG. It's just part of the entertainment system.

Wink re: gas mileage

Hey ... you should get a evolution chip programmer and it will improve mileage and power a lot .... too....

can you do me a favor ...here is my problem.... can you check your truck starter solenoid wiring and let me know what it is ...something is wrong here ....

i need to know the proper wiring for my starter solenoid for "starters" assuming that's the problem, on my 97 f250 PS i forgot which wires go where and after replacing the main positive power cable that goes to the batteries and the starter and a new starter i now have no power to anything for some strange reason.... no lights, radio etc.. nada... but strangly enuf the starter turns over when you " short" the terminals ....... i checked all my fuses etc seem fine ,,, and fyi it started just fine b4 i did this fix....

pls help me asap Scott

16 to 17, from day one with this truck, still the same, I have a heavy foot and drive 75 whenever I can, keep it below 100 (thans to that speedlimiter program) If I try to get good mileage I still get 17 so I just drive and get 16. Really thought I would get closer to 20 when I bought this truck. Last truck was a Dodge dually 2wd and got 18 to 19.... but the pre 24 valve version was gutless and this truck goes!

i totally believe it. people don't believe my numbers, the highest i've gotten is 25.54 MPG hand-calc'd, filled at the same station to the neck, verified by a GPS on miles traveled too. I think the tires really kill your mileage. I have 265/75R16 BFG a/ts on a 2WD with an exhaust, intake and TS 6 pos. chip. on the 75 setting i average about 18-19MPG mixed driving when i'm light on it. when i turn it to the 140+ and romp on it, i can expect to go about 13MPG on that tank. but normal driving has yielded really decent numbers, considering the size of these rigs. And just to verify even further, I made the ~100 mile drive twice every weekend for the entire semester last fall, and always got between 22-25 on those trips. probably 95% highway on those. the KEY is keeping it cruised at 55-60. it feels like you're crawling but going much above that starts killing mileage. Although I did have a few drives back from College Station, slightly downhill with the wind at my back, and got about 20mpg going 75-80 most of the way.

Also remember that every truck reacts a little differently, you may have a boost leak, drivetrain loss, etc.

I've been in the 20mpg range on #2 on flat freeway driving, more like 17-18 in the mountains (which is just about everywhere here) - grocery getting I do about 15.5mpg

My 450 had 4.88's from the factory. the truck weighs just under 11,000#'s empty and i was getting 10-11mpg consistently, highway and backroad. I swapped to 4.10's and flat highway i can see 21-22, backroads, 13-14 consistent.
