Question Mysterious Vibation

I have a 00 excursion 4wd and everything is tight on the front end, new shocks and steering dampener, bearings are tight and no noise, tires are new (but it did it with the last 2 sets too...one set was only on for a month before we put these on. Long story.) and balanced. There is a vibration when driving between 55 and 75 on the interstate, it might do it at other times but our roads sucks so I might not be feeling it. It feels like its coming from the passenger side front but I could be wrong. My husband has checked everything he can think of and he said when he worked at firestone they had a customer with a gas burner excursion that had the same problem but no one could find what it was. Anyone have this problem and fix it? Any idea? TIA

Tiffany

I feel it more in the floor than anything. I don't notice much in the steering wheel at all.

Mysterious Vibation

Not feeling it in the steering wheel leads me to think it's coming from the rear. I would check your u joints and carrier bearing. Is it lifted.

Just went through something very similar. Ended up being the u-joints on the driveshaft. I ended up replacing all the u-joints on the driveshaft and 4x4 driveshaft. Problem solved

Mysterious Vibation

I would say a new drive shaft is an extreme. Replace the u joints and carrier bearing and you should be good. If there is still a vibration issue take it to a drive line shop and have it balanced. Only way I would replace a drive shaft is if it was damaged

Have you figured out what was causing the vibration?? I'm getting one at 45mph.....doesn't do it below or above.....just at 45. I feel it in the seat and floor too.
