Ball Joints

Greetings all.......

I have a thud when coming to a stop in either drive or reverse. I have replaced all 4 shocks, both front sway bar end links and the sway bar bushings......I have to assume it is the ball joints....2000 Excusion, 7.3l, 4wd, 109k miles.

How hard are they to replace? Anyone have a link to a step by step guide???

Thanks......

Have you jacked up the front end and check for play by grabbing the wheel at 12 and 6 and shaking?

I recommend raybestos ball joints. Best price I found was rock auto.

I haven't checked them yet, but what else could it be? The end links were so rotten that there was hardly any rubber left. Like I said, the front end pops when coming to a stop in either drive or reverse.

Found this......http://www.superdutypsd.com/ball_joint_article.php

Looks pretty straight forward.

Moogs quality has gone down in resent years. Raybestos are better quality and should last longer. Plus that's what all the dodge guys are going to. And we all know they have a hard time with ball joints.

Got all 4 ball joints installed this weekend. The drivers side were not that bad, but the passengers side, both were toast. I also had to replace the inner and outer seals on the passengers side.

I followed the instructions I posted earlier.....Very straight forward.

I used the Raybestos upper and lowers from Amazon......All I can say is WOW....Drives and handles superb!

Good deal. I'd get an alignment just to make sure everything is in spec.
