I know a lot of guys that plow have a hard time getting their money in a timely fashion. It is not one of those things you get paid for when you finish the work. wether it be for a private company, or a municipality. A LOT of guys wait a LONG time for their $$.
But in the longrun.....if you answer yes to the first quentions, then yes it is worth it. Can be very profitable.
Sorry IDK anything about mounting it on an EX.

I am a pretty big comerical snow plow guy... we generaly start out the season with 50 contracts and end it with over 60. we bill in 1 month cycles because much longer then that people have a hard time writing out those checks, then I would say 30% of the checks are late, and 10% you have to hound, but the good thing about monthly is if they are to late with the payment, you just stop plowing.. and I wont send a truck there intill i get a check. We do not carry any contracts for residental, they are the worst. I sell them all to smaller companies, but a snow storm I will make an extra 1 to 3 thousand under the table from people waving me down to plow there driveway, I tell them a crazy number and if they say yes i do it, if they say no im on my way.
I thinking mounting is the same for the EX as the 250s

There is alot of over head to maintian trucks, Either me or another guy are working on plows and trucks all winter when Im not driving one. You also have to think, if you truck or plow breaks in the middle of the night, who is finishing your customers, because they dont care about your broken truck, they care about there driveway

My cheapest driveway is $35 and my most expensive one is $70. Parking lots are simple and straight forward and they pay very well. Each parking lot is on average $130, and they aren't very big at all. I have made thousands of dollars in profit from plowing in the past 4 years I've owned my truck, which helps pay for all my toys and bills.
If you do it right and pick and choose the plowing accounts that will require the least amount of headaches to make the customer happy you'll be surprised on how easy it is to make the money. I go out and plow a typical 6-8" storm and easily take in $1,000 cash, and Im only plowing for like 8 hours usually.
The trucks don't take a beating, they are built very well to handle a 8-9' plow with no issues. The only thing that will kill a truck is if you are constantly driving into curbs or sewer grates and putting a lot of stress on the truck. If you plow like a normal human being and take your time you will have no issues.
Find a plow set up used and install it. People are constantly selling plow equipment and you will initially have to spend a few bucks, but it WILL pay for itself in a short period if you get ambitious with your plowing.
With that said.... I couldn't imagine a day where I own a 4x4 truck without a plow.

I agree, with basically everything he said, you have to know how to use it, and once you do its not that hard on your truck, heavy snow gets harder, then you charge more.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy a beat up plow truck, put a plow on your ex which is reliable and ready to go. You will have far less issues putting a plow on the ex now than you would going out and buying an old beat to hell plow truck, this I know from experience.

A good truck with a good plow, is all i have to say. And never buy a truck with a plow. In my experence people suck at plowing. I have seen my guys really F up our trucks

good plows are 2-5k for stright blades and up for V.
My truck is 4inchs on 35s and plows just great, another one has 6 and 37s and plows fine, but we have custom mounts to the truck..
Plowing is worth it, if you can find the work, but anyone with a truck can compete... and make sure you have good insurance. And be ready for being awake for days at a time... my record is 5 days, with maybe an hour nap every 2
