Suspention upgrade

I have a 2000 Excursion with the 7.3 which I just got with 179k miles on it. It needed new tires so I put on some BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO 285/75r16's. I think since that's a high pressure tire I'm really feeling the inadequate suspension.

What's recommended to improve the ride and maybe get a little more ground clearance? The shocks that are on there aren't leaking but they look pretty old and I'm wondering if just a new set of stock sized Bilsteins would improve the ride noticeably? Is there a good thread talking about the V and B code upgrade or whatever it is?

What would a kit like this do to the ride:
99 04 Ford F250 4x4 2 8" Full Lift Kit w Bilstein 5100 Shocks | eBay

2000 Ford Excursion 7.3, AIS intake, 4" MBRP exhaust, PHP Hydra Chip, Bilsteins (5100 in front and 4600 in back) and x code front springs to be added when I can find the time to put them in.
