Hit a turkey on Christmas

Well... the family and I were heading to Grandmas house when a wild turkey thought he was tougher than a 8500lbs. hunk of metal.

I hit him around 40mph. He was on the other side of the street when I saw him. I slowed to 40mph and saw that I had enough room since he was on the other side of the street. At the point of no return he ran into my lane and tried to fly. Cloud of feathers.

I pulled over to see the damage.

It dented my hood, broke my grill and a piece of the grill poked a nice pinhole in my A/C condensor. My front bumper also has a little dent on it.

So now I need to decide on fixing it myself or claiming on insurance. DO insurane rates go up with a claim on animal strikes?

Anyone have any leads on where I can find some parts? I've already looked on eBay and most of the parts are on there... I was mainly looking for opinions on hoods and what brand of A/C condensor. Average pricing for these items?

I want to do an 05 grill and Harley Davidson headlights with maybe a cowl hood.

I hope everyone had a good holiday.

Cool. I totalled up parts around $350 + a complete vac/recharge of the A/C system... this was without a new hood/paint.

I think I'll be called my insurance today. Hopefully they will write me the check so I can buy the parts I want.

Geico inspection finally happened.

Hood fix and repaint, 05+ grill, Harley headlights, new A/C condensor and EVAC/Recharge incoming.

I am also going to see how plastidiping will look on the bumpers, trim pieces and wheels.

Pics to follow.

Well... I picked up my truck from the shop. I'm not happy.

My friend works for a Maaco shop and convinced me that he could hook me up.

I ordered an 05 Grill (paintable) and Harley Headlights.. brought him the parts and the truck last Monday.

Friday he calls and says it's ready. I go down to pick it up and he is lucky I am his friend.

Where the hood was "repaired" there is still a noticeable panel gap difference. The grill isn't attached at the bottom (thought it snapped in), the headlights fit but one of the top mounting tab was broke off (he said that's how it was out of the box... I didn't receive a call) but they mounted it anyways, the factory connector that plugs into the amber bulbs/turn signals "don't fit". He said they they were broken and won't hold onto the new bulb. New pigtails from Ford are $5. I didn't get a phone call about this. When I dropped off the truck all the lights worked. Where the hood was repaired and repainted... under the hood there is bare metal. "We only painted the top of the hood."

In the nicest way possible expressed my displeasure with the repair. He wrote up a warranty form and said any Maaco could fix the issues. I had to return the rental car so I had to take my truck.

Bottom line I guess... this was a life lesson. You get what you pay for, especially in this case.

You got an insurance check and went Maaco ? You didn't get an insurance check and went Maaco ? It was free and you went Maaco ? That stinks man ! But , i think you had a sneaky suspicion before hand. Maaco / Aamco ...all the same letters but the same crappy service whether it be paint or tranny work...coincidence ??? I'd have DIY'ed everything but the hood repair and rocked on. Sorry to hear it. Hope they make it as right as they are of capable for you.

Sold 01 350 6" on 37's and mild mods, 00 X 4" on 35's, 02 f350 4" 35's modded from fan to drive shaft, ridin the 03 with nose conversion with 125k and counting upwards slowly.
Never had CNC's poo on any of it, never will.
