Superchips Micro Tuner

I just recently purchased a 2000 Excursion with a 7.3 the previous owner told me he had a Superchips Micro Tuner and ran it on the tow safe mod only, as it was his wifes vehicle. my question is are there going to be any long term problems to be expected?

I had a SCMT 1700 on my E350 on tow mode for over six years. It's not a "hot" tune, per se. Often helps in mileage and the transmission shifts are more logical than the OEM set up. Certainly will wake up the grunt from the engine.

Your Ex should be fine (with the 1700/1705) but there is a lot more HP that you can safely gain if you desire.

I have had one on my EX for several years never had a problem. There is a big difference between the stock and even the Towsafe setting.

Does the towsafe vs tow performance render different MPG?

I've had my 1705 on level 2 (tow performance) for over 2 years now with no problems at all. I think the mileage is better on tow performance but I think towing has a 6k lb limit at this setting. Couldn't stand to drive it without it. Seems to work better if I "knock it down" and reload it every 6 months or so......seems to re learn some bad trans shifting habits over time.

Yes there is a difference, but you have to keep off the gas peddle. 6000lb limit on setting Tow Perf.
