I have a 4" magnaflow SS turbo back. No tip. I have a 5" tip, I just haven't put it on yet. There was no cat on my truck. And I also have the aem brute force intake. I also wish the turbo was a lil louder too.

I mean, you can hear the exhaust when you get into it, but no drone at highway speeds. I usually cruise at 55 on the highway, pisses people off, but gets me an average of 21mpg over the course of a tank with about 80% highway use. (used to be 19, but through the first tank, which still had winter mix it jumped up to 21, a gain of 1.5-2MPG just by doing a built tranny) I haven't hand calculated that yet, but I will when I get home.

A built tranny got you better mileage?

I did 55 once, just to see what mileage I'd get. Felt like a rock in a stream. Freeway speeds in the city are around 75, and 85 out away from the cities (SLC, UT).

Do you get a drone cruising at 2000rpm? (approx 70-75 depending on tire size, assuming stock 3.73 gears)

Yeah, the guy said I would, and I doubted it. But the lie-o-meter says I did. I'll do the hand calc once I get home. Wife filled it up like i told her to, and wrote the mileage down. No chip or anything, and the lie-o-meter has been spot on in the past.

Yeah, 55 is definately a rock in the stream, but it helps lessen the pain of $5 a gallon. I'm usually driving 75-80, stressed out at all the idiot drivers in my way, and a major case of road rage. Driving 55, I'm MUCH more relaxed, no stress, no road rage, but now I'm one of the idiots. At least I'm in the right lane, and even though I'm in the truckers way, I'm courteous and let them know when they clear me. Although they sometimes don't like it that I'm in the way.

I've driven out that way, yeah the pace is high, and 55 probably wouldn't be too smart. Around here people drive at all paces. The only thing that pisses me off is that even doing 55 and in the right lane, I still get people that wanna ride my *** for miles. Dumbass, go around.

No drone at 2k. and not sure of my gears. 2K is usually right around 70 though.

Well, hand calculated, I averaged 22mpg over the course of 767 miles with about 80% highway use (cruise set at 55mph). Used 34.74 gallons. Thats an increase of 3mpg with a tranny upgrade. I used to average 19 under the same conditions.

Sorry for the late update. Busy weekend so far. I can't wait to switch to amsoil to see what that changes, and then after running with that, put a chip in.

Thumbs up What is the CPS unit?

Cam Position Sensor.

The CPS is a KNOWN point of failure on any Ford PowerStroke. I would recommend purchasing one and keeping it in your vehicle. It's easy enough to change on the side of the road and having one will save you the cost of a tow for a relatively simple fix.

You know, I used to have lots of problems with CPS's, but they recalled them, and since getting a new one from ford, I've had NO problems.

exhaust

I have a 2001 Ex that is my wife's suv. I put a 4" MBRP staiunless exhaust on it with the muffler. It drones, is louder than the stock & she doesn't like it!! So that is my comment on changing & using MBRP.

Just a little note to those that don't want it too loud and are concerned about drone. I just put the 5" tip on my exhaust, and can now produce the drone. I did not have the drone prior to the tip. Not a big issue for me, but a worthwhile note to anyone that is worried about noise. Leave the tip off, or at least, don't cut the exhaust back for the tip. Which is what I did.

And for those with complaints about drone, if you have a tip, try taking it off if it's removable.
