That's fine. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if you throw out 500hp and need 5in, I want proof. I have never heard that. There are many trucks out there that are 500+hp and not running 5in exhaust. I firmly believe that the 5in exhaust is just to show off.

Out of all my talks with Bean, BWD, DP Tuner, and MANY high HP people on this forum.. no one has ever said "you'll need a 5in exhaust".

But until I replace my turbo, I won't see 500+hp unless I add nitrous and water/meth injection.

I just went to a local exhaust shop in my town and had a 4" straight pipe system put on. He had the diff pipe pre bent, cut the stock system off at the down pipe at the cross member, and a 6" tip (for show). Sounds and looks good. No complaints, except the elderly neighbors who think a jet is parked in the drive gettin ready to taxi. LOL

I have a 5"

Just because it looks mondo. I didnt necesarily "NEED" a 5" but i like it and it looks SWEET.

I got mine from Farmboy Diesel. He might sell a SS exhaust but idk. Might call him and check because it was super easy to install and was vvery well priced.

MBRP makes a good product, but my opinion is that bent pipe, is bent pipe. I think its the mufflers that vary from company to company?

I have no real knowledge of the subject, just what ive read here and there. im not 100% correct so dont take any offense haha.

I used to believe this as well. Remeber the largest downpipe you can run without cutting/bending the firewall is 4"...

On top of that look @ Dockboy... 3.5" downpipe to 4" pipe, to 5" stacks in the bed.

He was making over 750 to the wheels.

I agree and even the mufflers aren't very different, but they can alter the sound quite a bit.

To the OP, exhaust brands are almost like the diesel religious wars; everyone has their own preference. Determine how much you want to spend and what you are looking to accomplish with the upgraded exhaust and go from there. Otherwise, everyone and their brother will try to convince you why their choice is the best for your situation.

This is very true...but different mefflers are quite different. I love the sound of my RBP, but Flowmaster wants me to run their Hushpower saying due to its design, it give more low end torque and so on. FarmBoy will give you a great set of pipes...but do a lot of research, no just take peoples words, and listen to sound clips before buying the muffler.

You don`t need guages unless you have a chip installed. Aluminized exaust will get you a 1 to 5 yr. warranty depending on where you buy for less than 300.00. SS will get you a lifetime warranty for less than 500.00. If you live on any coast or salted roads you will need SS. FBD is a good product cheap.
