Converting gas to diesel

There are tons of gas Excursions on the market, around here. Or, at least, a lot more gassers than diesels.

And 7.3 Powerstroke engines aren't hard to find, either.

Anyone know if it's even vaguely reasonable to be thinking about swapping-in a diesel engine? Other than the engine/transmission, what else would need to be swapped? Transfer case? Are the driveshafts the same length regardless of engine, or are they different?

Theres alot of work but it has been done before no doubt, id imagine its easier than a cummins swap since your going from the same maker rather than different ones

I thought about this before I bought mine, trouble is by the time you spend the money in doing so you could have found one for the same price or lower. This depending on what all you removed you could resale. You could look around for one even if its not local, for instance I broadened my search area in thoughts that I could drive down or get a cheap flight to the location. Persistence payed off in my case, I had been looking at X's since September (some sold right after I turned my credit app in) & my friend sold me his in March of this year (I paid cash)

If you can find a good parts truck like a roll over, take everything, dash and engine harness, your going to need a new fuel pump and pick up in the tank, which also has to be cleaned too

I wouldn't do it. Just wait and keep searching. Found mine for $3500! Only needed an injector and the PO didnt want to deal with it. If it's far from you maybe you could get a member from that area to go look at it for you.
