I have almost the exact same Ex as you. I was averaging 14.8 mpg stock. I did the dyi air intake, muffler delete, and the TS chip and now I'm averaging 18.5 mpg. And with the chip on the 140HP setting the Ex freaking hauls the mail for a big SUV.

Did you just cut out the muffler out and put a piece of pipe in its place?

Yep, sure did. The stock piping is right about 3 1/2 inch diameter.

Congrats on the purchase! Check all your boots, boost leaks can kill your mpg.

That was one of the first thing I did, the driver side was off, I fixed that, now there are no leaks. Thanks for the advise tho, any other would be great. I just hope I have better luck with the 7.3 then I did with my last 6.0 nightmare.

Mine is a 4x4 with 285 tires. I rarely ever get on it, your driving style is one of the biggest factors when it comes to fuel economy.

I've never been able to get better than about 14.5mpg mixed city & highway, light foot. I have AFE intake, muffler cut out & dumped. Checked for leaks, exhaust back pressure tube cleaned, trans fluid clean red/pink, no up pipe leaks, checked boost pressure sensor & a bunch of other small odds & ends. Tires 285 @ correct tire pressures. I need to put all highway on to see if mine improves. I have heard of others getting almost 20. The buddy I bought my EX from was getting close to 20 with the stock intake, he put the AFE in & it dropped. I get 12.5-13mpg towing 10k which I think is respectable.
