rear hatch lock not working

so i noticed this little gem of an issue. i locked my keys in my truck and in this case its a good thing but the rear hatch wont lock. i hit the remote and hear the door locks actuate but the hatch remains unlocked. tried the key and it turns like it should lock but doesnt. anyone else have this issue?

the latch mechanism needs to be removed, cleaned and greased. it gets amazingly dusty inside the rear hatch and that gums up the mechanism. had to do mine when I bought it.

got it. i pulled the plastic off and the lock was stuck. tossed some lube in there and used a screw driver to break it free and it works perfect. thanks. glad this was a free fix for a change.

i had a similar issue with mine, but found that I had to turn it to the left until it 'stopped' then turn a little harder to get it to lock.
