Looking into Excursions

I've been looking around a bit at Excursions. I currently have the truck in my sig an 08 Edge Limited (that I still owe a lot on) and my two old Buicks (I race my 71 Skylark when I can, the 70 GS isn't fast enough). My wife and I have talked about getting a camper. My oldest kid is 5 and for right now fits just fine in the back seat of my extended cab truck. She'll probably be 8 or 9 when we get the camper so by then she won't fit so good. I also have a 1 year old. So I proposed getting a big station wagon that's diesel powered (so I can get decent mpg) and the wife hasn't objected.

My questions are more about what they're really worth than anything. I've noticed that they're quite expensive, expecially the 7.3's. But when you factor in the problems the 6.0 motor has compared to the 7.3 it's almost worth spending the extra money on the 7.3. There's one about 75 miles away with 127k on it. Its a limited with all the stuff that goes with it minus heated seats. It's supposed to be a VA truck that has spent time in FL too. They're asking $18,999 for it. Is it worth driving down there to look at this thing? I'll be using the Edge as a trade (hopefully I'd break even on it).

I'd say it's worth driving to take a look. I'd also say that you can probably get them down 1-1.5K when negotiating. I just purchased a 2001 EX 7.3 last Dec. They wanted 17K and I bought it for 15,2. This was with a 6" lift and new 37's all around. Turns out that this thing is a one owner, and in sweet mechanical conditon as stated by my mechanic brother. I still have yet to get it over here....but soon....those Fiats will be scared!

Thanks for the response. I pretty much talked myself into going down to look at it. Now all I need is time. I'm getting hammered at work and the weekends are filled up. It's been for sale a while now. They recently dropped the price from 19999 to 18999. So they're starting to get desparate. I better make my move.

Also I was nosing around Ebay and found one in VA with 40,000 miles on it. The buy it now price is $32,999
