New to me '00 7.3 w/ 215k miles

Newbie here....Just got the truck after a third party mechanic gave me the thumbs up on the purchase . It's got 215,000 miles and has the original tranny, mechanic said it's in good shape but seems to run "lazy". Only upgrades are the 4" MBRP exhaust and a K&N intake. Other than cleaning the intake, what other steps should I take to get her moving better? Considering a chip but don't want to blow the tranny. Could the turbo be bad? Sounds great, but not sure if a bad turbo would equal bad sound.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Next upgrades will be a leveling kit and tires.

You should ditch the K&N and get another filter. Also best to get custom tunes because they adjust the shift points on the trans. Get gauges, boost, egt, and trans temp. There is so much that you can do. Just use the search button and read. I seem to see new stuff everyday. It just makes me want to spend more $$$

Sure... wix 46637 is a donaldson/baldwin filter... I use them on all my PSD's, and my buddy's... any parts store should be able to cross ref that #, but they are also availble online for less $. Parts stores near me quote $45-55 each, my buddy and I ordered 6 at once and got them for about $30/ea including shipping. Off hand I forget where it was from though... he ordered them, I'll ask him later if I remember.

You already got the exhaust, swap out the air filter, get some gauges (be sure to watch them, learn what to do with the info!) and get a good tuner. I like DP Tuner, and will ditch the Edge on our Excursion for one when the wife will let me.

Perfect, thanks for the help man! Bought the TS 6 pos tuner last night, hope that wasn't a bad choice.
