GPM

Does any onr know how to check a Glow Plug Module ? I get a P0683 and P1249 codes. This beast is hard to start on cold days, but all the glow plugs are new and the harness checks out OK. So, any help on how to check the GPM ?
On the P1249, wastegate, I checked the lines, they are all ok. When I turn the key on the sensor that the lines go to from the wastegate click repidly, any thoughts ?

Are you talking about checking the glow plug relay? If so it is easy to check with a meter, just make sure there is about 12v to ground on the two big terminals when you turn the key on and no more than 1/2v between them.

On the Excursion they did not put a glow plug relay on them, they put a glow plug module. Must be a better idea, Yeah right.

I thought only the California emissions trucks and Excursions had the GPM....

This is an Excursion. You would think that there would be a way to test a GPM other than throwing a new part at it.

I understand it is an Excursion My question is do all Excursions have a GPM or just those set with the California emissions?

Great question, I am not sure. Does your have the GPR or GPM? Is it older than mine, (2000). I do know it sucks not knowing how to check one. Nice X by the way !

I believe mine has the relay...I have been trying to get straight answer from researching online-but no luck there. I am hoping I won't have a reason to figure out which is in there Maybe I'll figure it out when I'm changing glowplugs!

Mine is an '03...the sucker seems to have a TON of relays!

I bet yours has the GPM, I don't see Ford decreasing on how complicated these things can be. Look where the GPR is supposed to be and I bet you will see a piece of aluminum about 3 inches long with two plugs coming out of it. That is the GPM
