Hi I'm new to your forum and I just picked up a 00 Ex with 149K. after about 500 miles service engine light came on. I installed new fuel and air filters and drained the separator. Checked gas cap looks ok. Ex runs good but exhaust sounds funny. Any ideas???? Can this light be reset somehow? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

if you can get it scanned and post up the code, you'll probably get a quick answer!

The light means you have a stored code/codes, by getting them read you can figure out what the problem is. If you are close to me I will be happy to read them for you, or post your location on the 7.3 problems section with your location and hopefully another member will be close to you.

Not sure what your code is but my wifes X has had the SES light on for at least two years. The codes were glow plug #8 and a couple other pertaining to #8. Shortly after the light came on all the glow plugs were replaced and the light never went away. My cousin who's a diesel mechanic checked it with his Snap scanner and said no codes showed up. He's scanned it a few tims since with the same response from his big buck tool. It's funny though my little $150 scanner keeps throwing codes.

Well to clear the codes you pull the negative battery cables leave them off overnight and this clears mine. That way if the previous owner fixed it, you can tell.
