Tach and Speedo going crazy!
Hi,
This is my first post to this site, so here it goes. I have a 2002 excursion with approx. 55,000 miles. Two weeks ago while driving down the highway the tach and speedo needles surged all the way to the left and then all the way back to the right. It was as if the battery was disconnected and reconnnected. The following day it repeated the same pattern as above, but the radio, power locks and windows would not operate until the vehicle shut down for approximately 10 minutes. It quit doing it last week and started again on Sunday. I checked all fuses (there ok) and cleaned all battery terminals, and it still keeps doing the same thing. Has anyone here experienced anything like this? And is their an easy fix? Thanks any help would be appreciated! |

Sounds like your gauges are sweeping.

What would cause the guages to sweep?

I dunno. Mine do it when I reprogram or do the cluster trick.

My truck is having some problems, the radio and power windows quit and come on after a while and all the fuses are ok. I now the radio still has power to it because when I press the eject on the cd player it displays cd 1-6. I don't know if there is a breaker for the power windows and radio, I don't have a owners manual with the truck.

I have an 06 F350 so I don't know if it'll be the same thing... but I had a similar problem with mine last year. The spedometer was going insane, I'd be going like 50 km/h and it would say I was going 110. It was even so far past that it was off the chart (like almost a full 360 degree) and then it wouldn't register any speed and would say 0. And then sometimes it would work fine. But I had to replace the instrument cluster on mine to fix it.
