Milage on a 7.3 excursion

I just got a 2000 excursion from my brother he said he did not like the gas millage on it he said he only could get 15.3 city but I get 17 no problem. The only modification is the truck has air bags in the back because we used to town with is so what is the normal mileage you guys get with a stock excursion and what are some mods that i can get more power and fuel mileage.

15.3 or 17 is GREAT for all "in town" driving! I doubt you can do much better.

The biggest thing that affects mileage is driver habits. Nothing else will change fuel milage as much as this which no one but you has any control over.

Aside from that, good maintance, and proper tire size and pressure is about it. Some claim better mileage using chips. I can't say right now on that because one is "on my list"! haha

Pulling my car and trailer to Ohio from NJ (~4700lbs about 480miles trip) and some driving around town in Ohio unhooked from the trailer I averaged about 16.5MPG, I think the electrical gauge on the truck is usually a little off. My Exursion has 193K on it and is bone stock.
