Solution for loose noisy doors

again, I'm new to owning Fords - I've had my 2002 7.3 4WD Excursion for a month now and have tried everything to quiet down the doors (silicon everything, tape the door strikes, etc.). The most annoying noise is a clicking, tapping noise b/w my door and the rear door behind me - can't figure it out. And it's not making noise on bumpy roads - only smooth roads.

sounds like you need to adjust the strikers. Loosen the 2 torx head screws that hold the striker on the body. take a block of wood and a 2-3 pound shop hammer and give it a good tap. retighten screws and the noise should go away.

seems unanimous - I just didn't know if the problem is in the latch, etc. or if it was something simple.

Thanks.

I had a similar situation and it was the seat belt spool rattling insider the pillar. I pulled the pillar cover and put a piece of foam weatherstrip tape on the pillar and the noise went away.

Something I always tell my wife and kids to do;

There is a small knob on the dash to cure all rattles. Just turn clockwise.

Eventually the volume will be loud enough on the radio to drown all other noise.

Yeah, I know, they don't like my answer either.
