'00 Excursion Transmission
Well - I just posted a thread about how cool new rotors and shacks are on mu '00 Excursion PSD. But I do have a problem that I need advice on...O recently took a trip through the mountains towing a trailer and down shifted the auto transmission a lot coming down steep grades. Evidently the trans overheated (i do not have a temp gauge) because trans fluid was on the pavement -- evidently from the overflow vent. Is this a problem? Should I replace the fluid? Should I add an additional cooler and temp gauge?

Most likey is your front pump seal on the transmission -- just keep her full or you'll burn it up - and yes an additional/bigger cooler and temp guage will be must haves for towing once you get that seal fixed (quoted from my dealer at $700 to fix)
Mine is currently leaking also after towing our 5th wheel Didn't know trannies had overflow vents?? (I don't know if they do or don't -- not making fun) |

No they dont have overflow vents. Either youre pushing it out the front seal or out the dipstick tube.
