Building an 08 Ex (pics)

So for those of you that don't know I am building a 2008 Excursion out of a 2002 Ex and a 2008 F250. Here is a link to the other thread and some more continuing pictures.

Did the 08 headlight mod this weekend. Painted the insides black.

Now they look like Harley Headlights

Bumpers on, cladding on. Everything on the outside pretty much wrapped up. Took the Ex for a little test drive today. Hoping to get in inspected next week. Inspector said that he is going to put it threw as a 2008 F250 which was great news to hear because I don't want a home built titled.

That is one very beautiful vehicle. You put a lot of work into that thing and I hope you enjoy the heck out of it!

Figured out the rear wiper and washer pump today. Found another blinker switch with the rear wiper on the stalk. Looks just like the Excursions do. Looks factory would never know the difference.

Are you rebuilding a wreck, with a salvage title? I think I would think a 2002 title would be what you get, since you are using a chassis of a 2002, and only taking the 'look' parts, sheet metal bolt-ons, from the 2008. And if you use the VIN from the 2008, it's going to be a F250 pick up in the eyes of your insureance company... and the DMV, which may create some confusion, as there was no 2008 Excursion...

However, nice looking work! I love our Ex, ticked over 252k miles a few weeks ago... great modern family wagons!

It not just a sheet metal swap. The front frame of the 08 is spliced half way back on the 02 Ex frame and the front fire wall is taken from the 08 and spliced on to the 02 Ex through a factory seam in the middle of the front door. It will be titled as an 08 F250.
