Will it fit an F350?

There is a local guy here that is parting out a 2001 Excursion because a tree fell on it. It is a four wheel drive, mine is two wheel drive. Will his auto trans be a direct bolt up as a replacement for mine, minus the transfer case?

It should work if you use a manual t-case and manual locking hubs to make things easier. You will need front wheel spacers to fit the dually wheels.

No I think pipelayer missunderstood.

I have an F350 and want to build a trans before I take one out. My truck is two wheel drive, the X is a four wheel drive. Both PSDs. Will the X trans minus the transfercase work in MY dually?

Nope, I'm lost, I misread his question, OOPS!

I'm not sure if the tailshafts will interchange.

That's what I'd have to look out for? Could I measure the tailshaft to see if it's different, or is it visably noticable? I could put a different one on it if need be; right?

You would have to look at the housings and see if it can be swapped. I'm not sure if the newer trannys are designed that way. If it is a one piece case you are out of luck. Someone around here probably knows.
