Bought a 36k mile 7.3 Excursion
My father is in the process of buying a 2001 Limited Excursion 2wd with only 36k miles on the 7.3. It's a bone stock one owner (70 year-old man) truck that has been regularly serviced at our local Ford dealer. Since new, all filters and fluids were Motorcraft and service performed by Ford techs. It's beautiful inside and out; not a single ding, dent, or scratch on the exterior or interior. My father swore off diesels forever after his 1998 Silverado 6.5 turbo diesel was a nightmare, but he fell in love with the 7.3 in the Fords after I bought my truck last October. The deal is done and hands were shook between the seller and my father, he's just waiting for the seller to find a new truck to make the exchange.

thats quite a find, did he get a good deal on it?

He's getting it for right around Kelly Blue Book value, which is a great deal considering the fact that KBB doesn't account for the high re-sale value the 7.3 commands, especially an extremely low mileage virgin one like this.

Well, it took about 4 months longer than expected, but we finally took delivery of this 7.3 Excursion today. She's in perfect condition inside and out and still hasn't even hit 37k miles on the odometer yet (the original owner only drove it about 30 miles since we test drove it last in February). The only flaw is the hood paint is slightly faded, but the rest of the paint shines like a penny. Buying vehicles from people in their 70's is the only way to go!
That old man took such good care of this truck, it's literally like brand new. It has never even had a trailer connected to the hitch. On the to-do list to make sure this X runs forever: -Amsoil oil change -6.0 transmission cooler and trans flush to Schaeffer's All Trans -Gooch's coolant flush and switch to Delo ELC [IMG] [/IMG]

nice find there are not may out there like that and buying it from the original owner is great. The truck looks great!
In December I bought my first diesel to tow my TT, its an 03 F350, 2wd CCSB.... 34,000 miles on it. But it was from a dealer. Not much history but its still had everything origianal on it including the batteries! I paid 20,500 for it. for the milage if you can find a 7.3 with under 50k oon it your crazy not to buy it there are only a hand full left out there. |

Excellent find with that low mileage. I thought my 2001 with 98,000 was low. Good luck.

What kind of MPGs highway could my father expect after I convert it to all synthetic fluids, S&B intake, and a 4" turbo back exhaust? I believe it has the 3.73 rear end. I've read numbers of 19-22 MPG online, but those always seem to be 4x4s...anyone have first hand experience with a 2x4? If we could get 900 miles on the 44 gallon tank I'd be happy.
