loping sound? please help
my wifes 01 7.3 excursion will have a loping sound when it is started cold mainly in the mornings. I can rev it up and it will idle normal. If started after its been warmed up it does not lope. No codes anybody no what causes this. Thanks for your time

When these things are cold they make alot of noise, and they dont run too good cold, so it should be normal.

Engine is cold, I live in Michigan and mine does this often. It will even do this if I plug it in. But I would check your GPR and glowplugs just to be safe. I know I am going to install new glowplugs into my truck.
Also in the winter I switch to 10w30 as well. |

We live in texas and the mornings lows are in the high 70s right now. my 2000 7.3 psd has no problems in the morning ill check the glow plugs on her excursion thanks

Could be a IPR going out, but most times its just older oil... FYI, the Excursions have a GPC not a GPR... Glow plug controler...

ill agree with the ipr problem, may be sticking cold
