Rear hatch mod?

I just started camping in my X and would love to rig a cable or rod to trigger the hatch door on the rear of the X to exit that way instead of having to go in and out the side doors. I suppose I "could" turn my bed around and sleep with my head to the rear that way exiting out the side would be easier but then I would have elevated feet instead of elevated back. Seems easy enough to run a wire hanger in there through the cover and rig it to pull the latch. Anyone done this yet?

good point... haven't had our Ex for very long, but not having a way to release the back from the inside seems kinda dumb... for safety reasons if nothing else, what if you're in a crash, and need out the back to escape? A hatch release would be a good idea. How to do it, I have no idea, haven't looked at it with that in mind. If I do, I'll let ya know. Would have to be reasonably easy to do, just not sure how much of a 'hack job' it would have to turn into, or how cleanly it could be done.
