Lift and tire size?-- lift kits which one?

I am considering putting a lift on my 02 2wd excursion, but not sure which. I see you can add 2 in with aluminum spring spacers or get a 6 inch lift by pro comp or fab tech. Just wondering what size tire i can use with both and pros and cons of each. anyways, any help or advice is greatly appreciated--RD
