Attn Electrical guys! Daytime running light question
I am picking up my 2002 Excursion Limited in Ohio tomorrow morning. I will be importing it into Canada. I know I need to have the DRLs activated, my question is, is lower power supplied by a separate wire(s) into the light harness, or is this just a computer command that operates the DRLs through the existing wiring? I'm asking because I want to switch my headlights to some black Harley F250 knock-offs from Ebay that have a row of LEDS in the middle. If possible, I thought it would be cool to have these LEDs powered as my DRLs.

I could be wrong but I think the DRLs require a different switch and a DRL module. What I would do is connect the LED's to a relay powered by the ACC circuit. There are two ACC circuits and one is only activated when the key is in the run position. What you would end up with is the LED's on whenever the key is in the run position.

Good call! Thanks.

Where would the accessory circuit be? Is it an empty spot in the fuse panel?

You can grab it off the wires under the dash that go to the key. Don't remember the color but you can just probe for it.
