how to tell if my auto lock hubs are working

had my 02 excursion 4x4 up on blocks with the front wheels off, put in a set of bilsteins this wknd. when turning the front wheels with transfer case in 2wd, front drive shaft would spin. does this mean my hubs are not disengaging? they are currently frozen, not sure if they're stuck in lock or auto mode, as indicator marks are not present. thanks for any help.

Put tires back on and jack it up and start it and engage 4x4 and see if the front tires turn. Be sure your hubs are in the automatic position.
