Short antenna?

So we just brought home our new (to us) 01 4x4 ex..everything fits in the garage but the antenna hits the top of the door opening, it's really just an inconvenience but I am guessing the better half will be none to happy with it, so has anyone replaced their antenna with a shorter model that replaces factory?

I have the same problem with my truck. Be interested to see if anyone has a good suggestion.....

I made mine shorter, it is a common thing in the Mustang world. just pull the ball off the end, cut down the antenna, and grind the tip down till the ball will fit on it and super glue it back on... works great, I had to cut mine to park in my parking garage at work... I left mine just a couple of inches taller than my cab. kinda like a curb feeler for my roof

So that works even with the little wire twisted around it? Great idea btw

that isn't a wire, it is a ridge ground onto the antenna to reduce wind noise I think...

Okay, to jump in here....Does the ball at the end pull off, unscrew or ??? - I've read about it, but haven't done it, but definitely want to do it.

pull off, I used 2 pairs of pliers, I also soldiered the ball back on. little bit of paint and done..thanks for the tip.
