AC quits when ESOF used

I thought I had read about this issue somewhere in the forum but can't find it now.

When I use the ESOF knob to shift from 2WD into 4WD , my AC suddenly quits and the defroster starts blowing like mad. In other words the vacuum solenoids that control all the duct work switch around.

I know I have vacuum leaks on both hubs so I have been locking the hubs manually. After a short while, everyting returns to "NORMAL" but it sometimes "cycles" thru this series again as long as I am in 4WD.

It's a real nusiance when it's 95+ outside and all we're trying to do is to get back to the TT on a rough back-country road.

Anybody got some guidance for me? Thanks, D

I thought that would do the trick or just "plugging" the hoses so there is no leak and using the hubs manually.

Thanks, D

Your way= inexpensive and easy.

Dave's way= the right way to fix it.

Take your pick which way is best for you.
