trailer wieght
Hello All,
I need to settle a debate that i have with a fellow excursion owner.....my friend thinks he can safely pull a 20ft dual axle enclosed trailer with a gross weight of 20,000 lbs for 50 miles on the interstate with his bone stock 2001 Excursion 7.3 4x4. I think we can safely pull 10,000 lbs in a 20ft trailer. Can anyone chime in as too the actual weights we can safely pull with our Ex's? Thanks KR |

I wouldn't go over the manufactured recommendations. It will tow 20,000k but not safely. The moving isn't the issue, it's the stopping that causes the most problems.

Your friend probably wouldn't ask if it were a 5000 mile trip. Is it any safer for only 50 miles?
