01 EX Speakers

Can some one tell me how many stock speakers come in these? Size and where, front doors, rear doors, kick panels etc...

Front door panels, rear door panels and there may be some in the WAAAAY back. I think they are 5x8's. I checked crutchfield's website to see what size mine were when I was thinking about ugrading speakers.

Actually they are right behind the rear doors.

6X8 is the size you are looking for and that is for all 6 speakers.

Front doors, back doors and just behind the back doors are your speaker locations.

I modded up my front doors and now have 6.5" JL Audio's in my front doors, I have Clarion 6x8's for the back 4 speakers.

If you go through Cruthfield, they give you a ton of install gear free that will help you install quick and easy. Also, if you don't want to use the 6x8 stock size, you can buy the 6 1/2 or 5 1/4 and crutchfield will give you a bracket that allows you to mount those in a 6x8 hole for free. There prices are good but cant beat all the free stuff. IMO

Does anyone know the color codes for each speaker? I did a forum search, a google search and came up empty on solid information. Google resulted in a bunch of hits, but each one I looked at listed different colors for each speaker. Hard to tell which one is correct without pulling door panels...

I put Kicker KS68's in yesterday and having a baaaaaaaaaaaad feeling I may have guessed wrong on the 50/50 bets. I did it by sound, which is NOT the right way to do things.

I need to order another pair for the rear rear speakers, and Crutchfield isn't the cheapest by any means. The goodies they send with the speakers don't make up for the price difference.

I got some speaker adapters made by metra to make life easy, metra 72-5600. Its just plug into the factory speaker connector and then wire to the aftermarkets.
The problem is that they seem to change the wiring colors every year or two, so unless you get a hold of an 01 factory service manual you will have to pull the radio out to see the wires.

Ya, Normally Crutchfield gives you these for free. He must not have told them his vehicle info or they forgot to include them! I've always got them with my orders.
