Rear Entertainment Question

So after quite a lengthy search I finally found and excursion and picked it up this past saturday. 03 7.3l Black with Quad Captains Chairs. 185k Miles on it but runs great. The previous owner put a Pioneer head unit in and didn't reconnect the rear monitor. The factory DVD player still runs but it seems as if no power is going to the factory monitor. Has anyone wired the rear entertainment system to an aftermarket head unit? If so can you give me some pointers on where to start.

If this is not an option does anyone out there have a factory head unit laying around collecting dust?

Congrats on the new X. I have the Pioneer Avic Z2 in mine and have been told by several people that it cannot be done. A guy at a local stereo shop told me he could rewire the factory system, but wanted to be paid by the hour while he "figured" it out (Not a chance). I have not asked in a couple years but would love to have it done if someone ever developed a kit.

Thanks. I am going to pull the head unit out and see what wires are hanging out back there. I may wire it up myself and if I get it to work I will let you know. I'm not sure which model I have but I will check tonight. I know it has navigation in it but it asks me to insert a disc.

I have a question for you though. Does your rear system work still or only the front unit?

I know it will let you put in a DVD but there is no video or audio. I have not tried hooking anything into the aux input. I do not know if the screen will work using the aux input. Will try tomorrow and let you know. I'm sure there is a way but I am electronically challenged and have never tried to figure it out. Sure would be nice to have it on long trips with the kids though.

yeah definitely let me know. I messed with mine last night and it flashed white across the screen for a split second and then stopped so I think i'll tear into it this week or weekend. I also think I have the same head unit, did yours come with a cd to load maps for the navigation?

Tried the aux input and nothing. The unit has power but no screen or audio .
