Door ajar warning light On
My door ajar warning light stays on even though the doors are all shut tight. I understand this is a common problem with Excursions. What is the issue and how do I fix it?
Thanks |

You can try spraying the switch (on the door) with some WD40 and then open/close the doors a few times. That fixed it for me when mine did it a week or 2 ago...

Door ajar switch
I don't have an Excusion, I have an 04 F-250 and my light is on as well. I have sprayed the latches with WD-40 and it hasn't gone out yet. Also, how would I narrow down to which latch it is that is stuck? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Door Ajar Light On
If spraying the hinge does not work, then this means there is a bad switch on one of the doors. The switch(es) are located inside the door itself. The door panel has to be removed and the bad switch has to be replaced. The excursion has 5 doors. I narrowed it down by trial and error and found the door to be on the passenger side. Good luch with your F-250.

Door ajar light
I'll tell you what I did. I figured that if one of them was bad, it would be the one that is used the most, the drivers door. So, I went and bought the switch and replaced the one in the drivers door and it worked. The switches are pretty inexpensive and not real hard to change out. Each side of the truck has a different switch, so when you buy one, it will only fit one side of the truck. Hope that helps out. Good luck.

Door open light stays on
I had this happen last year, I talked to my Ford mechanic, and he clued me into the fact that the switch is behind the latch mechanism and that if you spray generous amounts of a premium loosening agent (PB Blaster) in that area then after opening and closing the door actually slamming it, when the switch frees up use a premium lube on it (Break Free) it shouldn't cause further problems. It worked like he described with mine and I do all of my doors once or twice a year to keep tem working.

I have the same problem took the door apart which is not hard and found a switch comming apart where they compress it together, pushed it back together and tapped it down again and it works fine.

I'll be getting after this today... I have something drawing juice over night and I'm thinking this is a major contributor as I've had door ajar switch problems for the last year and a half. Tried PB and WD, no joy.
