Just bought Excursion, DVD went out

My DVD player died after only having the truck for 3 weeks. I tried to replace it with one from an Expedition, but it uses a different wiring plug, even though the drive itself fits. I checked eBay, no excursion DVD players. Anyone have a source for them? I thought about splicing my own harness, but it seems they may use some special protocols for communication with the factory CD-6 head unit. I have the part number from the old DVD drive, but a google search yields no results.

hey man my dvd took a dump on me too. i was told by ford to take it to the specialists it is an audio stereo store and they have a repair department and i guess they can fix em. i havnt token it there yet but that is what they told me. i plan on getting it fixed when i have the funds.

well bamaboy if i can get one that works from you for cheaper than i can fix mine i would buy urs. i just need to take mine in and c what it would cost to fix it or if its even fixable. i didnt mean to rock the boat if thats what i did.

You didn't rock my boat at all, Gary. I just never use the DVD or CD players in any of the cars or trucks that I buy, so they just sit there and gather dust.

When I sell the truck, the player might add $100 to the value. If you can get yours fixed cheaper, that's good. If you want to try mine, that's fine too.

Just bought an Excursion yesterday and the DVD player is some giant aftermarket POS. What is a decent brand that wont break the bank? My kids are bummin. Plus it doesnt appear to be mounted the right way, it looks like its trying to pull the headliner down. Any help would be great!
