Im looking to do some mods i was wondering if you fellas could help me out. Im looking to do the following : Intake/Exhaust/Lift/ Tuner in the future
Intake: The 6637 filter from Napa is looking real good, would i see any noticeable gains in power and mileage from the AFE? Exhaust: I was gonna put a straight pipe in place of the muffler and cat, again would i see any noticeable gains in power from putting a 4" system in as opposed to the stock tubing minus a cat and muffler? Lift: Dont want to sacrifice MPG's but i love the look of the 2" lift. How many mpg's would i lose with a 2" lift ? Cheapest way to achieve this? Tires: Looking at 285/75/16 again would i lose mpg? |

6637 on the intake all the way ~ mpg change ...slight if any
might hear the turbo and surge a little more straight pipe works great , 4" back does also ~ slightly quicker spool and slight mpg maybe lift is not gonna help mileage as more resistance from airflow is getting underneath but it will sure look better sitting on 35's with 6" and avg 14mpg here and dont baby it or attempt for high mpg tuner will help if you dont drive like a madman...goodluck on my old 350 i was 16 mpg stock and put a 6" lift with 37's and and dropped to 13....after straight pipe , valve body , 6637 and tuner i was back at 16 again driving 75-80 on freeway nice buy by the way !! |

Intake and exhaust won't do much for power as they're supporting mods; when you get a chip/tuner then you'll see HP gains. They will definitely lower your EGT's, which is very good. I would go with a 4" inch turbo back exhaust if you can afford it, if not do a 4" muffler/cat delete. And the 6637 is way cheaper than an AFE setup. Make sure you have guages installed before you chip it though.
I have a 4" lift with 315/75/16's and I get around 18MPG on the highway, but I've hit 22 with a tailwind ![]() Nice, clean truck BTW! |

I'm not an expert but I don't think the truck is stock man. Based on the amount of black smoke pouring out and the way she took off, I think you have a tune on it.

How would I be able to check?? I'm pretty sure she's 100% stock except for intake and exhaust which I did after the video. The exhaust shop told me she did t have a cat on it though. Would that be why she's shooting that much smoke? Also I powerbraked before I launched.

I was wondering if it had a tune on it too.
When I bought my Ex, it had some kind of tune on it, which I didn't realize, and when I connected my SCT Tuner it couldn't find the stock tune so it locked the PCM and would just crank. Had to tow it in to get Ford to reflash it. |
