Upgrading turbo!!! Suggestions?

Hey everyone, I was looking around online just to look and came across a turbo upgrade for my X that I can afford!! Lol, anyways it is a Garret GTP38R ball bearing turbo 88mm with a 1.00 A/R for $1,600. What do y'all think? My X is mainly a daily driver, my wife drives it but she complains cuz it's slow and she wants it to whistle louder, but I drive it on road trips occasionally towing about 6,000-8,000 lbs trailer on the back.

if she wants whistle the 38r will give it to her. it's a pretty stout turbo, drop in with no modifications and can support 550 horse

a 38r is a very good choice. You can't go wrong... I got mine for 1600 installed. But if you can DIY it's not too bad, just take your time and do it all right the first time.

550hp? That's pushing it. There have been a couple that i know of but i wouldn't suggest it pushing the 38r that far.

EBPV- Exhaust Back Pressure Valve... , it is a valve located on the exhaust side of the turbo and it will open and close periodically to assist warm up.

I got rid of mine. Removing it helps exhaust flow a bit.

What size is our stock turbo? Is the GTP38R a big improvement, basically will I notice a significant difference in the seat dyno? Lol
