Anyone have any suggestions? I would really like to put 20" wheels and I want a tire that's will be ok for road trips, main reason I bought the excursion

I am not sure why they would tell you not to go bigger than 18'' wheels, unless they don't sell or work with wheels larger than 18'', some shops are not equipped to handle larger wheels.
I had stock 20'' wheels & tires on my 06' f250 & when I had tires put on, the shop said they had a hard time getting them on & wouldn't want to do it again.
Besides unsprung weight & cost, I don't see any reason not to go with a larger wheels.
