rear drivers side door, latch stuck

hello, i have a 2000 excursion. the glass opens, the passenger side door opens but the drivers side will not. i took the inner panel off, could see the cable sticking up, really couldnt get my hand in there to do anything so i drilled out the rivits and removed the handle. looks like the cable should attach to the top part of the latch and pull up to pop the door.......well i have tried moving everything with a screwdriver and a hook, cant get it to pop, lubed everything too. still nothing. ill replace the assembly if i can get it out!

anything im missing?

i just pryed on it, breaking the latch in pieces till i got to the rotted latch. all gone now! $45 at the dealer
