engine dies randomly

I am trying to help my brother-in-law out here.He has a 2001 ccsb 4wd auto..He was in Atl. in heavy traffic and the truck just died, fired back up,dies again.Fires it up again and feathers it to keep it running.(roughly 2 weeks ago).
Now ,he is in Tampa, somewhat the same prob. Before I had any knowledge of this,he carries it to the dealer. They didnt mention anything about codes, just asked if it had ever had a chip.Long story short, they said it was electrical and told him he needed a new wiring harness..($1100.00) and he is still trying to get back to SC.Any thoughts?

He said it was running great, then just died. The first time it happened he thought he had gotten some bad fuel. Then a couple weeks later(as in now) same thing. He did say that he had to "feather" the throttle to keep it running.(while in traffic). Then once he got up to about 70mph it was smooth sailing.

the dealership should have known better. althought, the wiring harness is a common problem with the 7.3L.

I hope it fixes his problem, after spending that kind of money.I am sure he will not be happy if it doesnt.

Could be lack of oil supply to the HPOP?

There was a cps recall a little time back. I've had similar problems. Stalling out of nowhere. Got an extra off Ebay just in case.
