ecu replacement

Ok if any of you have read my old last threads i need to get an ecu, I got the code off of the current one and found a couple ecu's but once installed do they have to be reprogrammed by the dealer if i get the correct ecu? Or can i just pop it in and go? Because if i remember correctly some older fords need to be reprogrammed.

As far as I know slow, Its a pop in Item if it's the same code as your old one, You can also send it in to DP and get it tuned as well.
