pop the hood and look on the drivers side I/C pipe. see that foil looking stuff? thats what you take off when you do the foil delete. the mod doesnt have any benefits other than makeing the turbo a little louder i dont think.

i did it, it looks cleaner overall, but it didnt seem to make anything any louder for me. i have '02 7.3L use a razorblade (straight) then use some acetone to clean off the remaining glue, it was no louder then before, at least for me. but like i said it looks cleaner under the hood. also, yes, it will be easier to remove the pipe from under the hood. no seals to worry about. it was pretty easy, i did have to remove my intake hose from the turbo to get the pipe back in place. removal/install took about 15-20min. the foil removal took about an hour or so.

I did the same,
I started without removing the tube, but realized the massive amount of glue there was and how hard it was to get off so I removed the tube. I also took off the intake tube to make more room. As said, it's a sound dapener, not to keep the boost warm. To counter any questions, Why would you want to keep the boost as warm as possible (meaning the foil insulation) going into the Intercooler than it already is? |

i think its more of a "heat shield" so to speak than insulation to keep it warm. it kinda reflects the heat. i actualy put header wrap around booth of mine to keep the air inside the tubes cooler.
