99 F250 Power Stroke Problem Weird Noise?
Hi Im new at this and i recently purchased a 1999 F250 7.3 Power Stroke. When my truck is idling it sounds like a rubbing noise and when i apply the brakes hard it gets worse. Could this have something to do with the power steering pump? Anything can help Thanks

Sounds like that might be it, I bet if you put a new one on, it would help. The harder you press, does it get louder? Also, does it do it while turning the wheel?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes the harder i press on the break the louder it gets. Occasionally when i turn you hear a slight rubbing noise.

sounds to me like normal ford powersteering whine. Your truck doesnt use vacume for brake boost, its uses powersteering.....since you are turning and braking at the same time....you are taxing the pump for all its worth. If its just a noise and isnt causing any problems....its actaully kinda normal. Most ford PS pumps make noise...some are just louder than others

So do you think i shouldn't replace it?

if its not giving you any steering problems...its up to you. Its not hurting anything but annoying you......some remans are just as loud as the noisy one you take off...
