Seat-belt wiring problem throwing Airbag light?

Little help would be great...

Dropped my parents 02 7.3 at a local diesel shop here in Nashville for an airbag light that was on. (they don't live near a quality shop) Just heard back from them and they put a new sensor in the buckle but that didn't solve the problem. They believe its a wiring issue now.
Anyone ever experience anything like this? What type of wiring issue could cause this? Can't imagine what could cause this considering the seat belts haven't been messed with. Shop is doing everything they can and they have been a pleasure to work with...I'm just posting this for my own frame of mind. Thanks in advance. (Hope this is the right section of the forum)

seat belts and airbags are not related
like mentioned a code will pinpoint it but it would need to be a good reader
