Goose under the hood

When I accelerate from a stop or the trans downshifts in cruise. I get a sound like someone is choking a goose. Doesn’t do it all the time, just depends on the load on the engine. Any ideas?

Maybe Turbo Surge? That doesn't really sound like a goose though

My son said he thought it was the waste gate.

The sound makes me think of someone or something choking so I call it the goose.

Not to be confused with choking the chicken.

You cannot hear the wastegate when it opens.

I looked at some videos last night and I guess it could be turbo surge. But is that something can can happen to a stock truck? It made this noise before I put the chip in.

I pull a 44ft enclosed gooseneck with a 2500lb dirt mod, golf cart and tools. That is when I can usually get the "goose". I suppose it would be to my advantage to ease up on the pedal a bit.
